Due to rapid development in the Mainland China’s aviation market, more and more flight routes are being expanded to accommodate travelers’ needs. To keep pace with growth, commercial aviators are also in great demand in the Greater China Region. However, domestic flight training programs in China are facing many daunting tasks such as quality control, unified regulations and capacity issues. Shortage of qualified pilots becomes one of the most vital factors hampering the fastest growing industry in China in decades to come! At present, every Chinese airliner is pursuing certified commercial pilots from both domestic and overseas market to sustain competitive advantages and avoid growth stagnation. With this foresight, Chinese University of Hong Kong – School of Continuing and Professional Studies has formed a strategic alliance with JetOne Academy – a US based Flight Training School by offering Preparatory courses for US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) PPL/CPL Ground School locally which improvise the road for interested individuals to enter the aviation sector.

To become an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) requires a solid foundation of knowledge! As Mr. Peter Yu – President of East China Region, JetOne Academy (Hong Kong) Limited stated, “The growth in the Greater China aviation market is still at its infancy stage and there’ll be shortage for ATPs in the foreseeable future. In essence, most airlines are now hiring qualified commercial pilots beyond their training farms to meet operation demands. Thus, presents an enormous career opportunity for avid individuals to take part in this exciting industry. Having said that, the very first step is to obtain the necessary aviation knowledge and our preparatory courses with Chinese University of Hong Kong will be a starting point! Upon completion of the preparatory course, students will then be ready and qualified to proceed with the actual FAA ground school examinations and JetOne Academy’s flight trainings in the US which takes approximately 3 months on Private Pilot License (PPL) and 6 months on Commercial Pilot License (CPL). We are confident that students who are determined and passionate to attain the required license certifications will have a flying aviation career!”

Metro News on JetOne To see the Press Release, please click here.
Airlines cadet recruitment has always been extremely competitive making it very difficult for many individuals who really want to pursue their career as a commercial pilot. Recently, Chinese University and JetOne Academy USA, together have launched a Preparatory Course for US FAA PPL/CPL Ground School in Hong Kong, students who have passed the written exam could proceed to the flight training in the U.S. and able to obtain a Commercial Pilot License in less than one year.

The proliferation of air traffic in China and Hong Kong in recent years has made a surge in demand of pilots and there is just not enough to fill the cockpits. JetOne Academy, Peter Yu, President of South China Region, has estimated that there is at least 2000 pilot job openings in China each year. Hong Kong has also experienced similar situation whereby Cathay Pacific has never reached its recruitment target year on year since the cadet program was launched twenty-two years ago. The career prospect in the commercial pilot field is undeniably sunny and bright. Chinese University and JetOne Academy, USA, together launched the Preparatory Course for US FAA PPL/CPL Ground School in Hong Kong which runs for 40 hours in 3 weeks duration. There is no specific requirements for as long as student is at least 17 years of age at the time of taking flight training in the U.S. The Course content includes Airplane Systems, Aerodynamic Principles, The Flight Environment, Communication & Flight Info, Meteorology for Pilots, Federal Aviation Regulations, Interpreting Weather Data, Pseudo Written Exam and Briefing, Airplane Performance, Navigation, Human Factor Principles, and Flying Cross Country. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion signed by the US FAA Certified Ground Instructor. Students may proceed to take the written exam and flight training in the U.S., the CPL runs approximately 6 months. As commented by JetOne Academy's US FAA Certified Ground Instructor, "FAA Certification is widely known and recognized in the aviation industry worldwide. In addition to applying a commercial pilot position, graduates of CPL could also consider other emerging business opportunities such as air taxi, air ambulance, or Ground/Flight Instructor, the future for pilots is absolutely fantastic in the Greater China region." You only have to be 17 with no minimum education requirements.

JetOne Academy is proud to announce the Preparatory Course for US FAA PPL/CPL Ground School and Introduction to Aviation have successfully commenced at Chinese University of Hong Kong on Monday, 18th Oct 2010 at 6:45pm... Tuesday, 19 October 2010, 5:30pm, JetOne Academy, Hong Kong

"This training event is a testament of our business model, and I'm very pleased with the outcome of many months of hard work between Chinese University of Hong Kong and our local JetOne team in Hong Kong." said Peter Yu, President - Asia Pacific Region. The Introduction to Aviation is a 10-hr 3 sessions course that provides students an opportunity to gain a clear perspective and career prospects within the aviation industry. Ground School, on the other hand, is a technical course aiming at students whom are prepared to acquire flight training in the US. The Ground School syllabus is based on the aviation industry standard textbook - Jeppesen, the course runs for 40 hours in 14 sessions. At the end of the course, a JetOne Academy’s Certificate signed off by our on-duty FAA certified instructor will be issued to every student as an acknowledgment of completing the US FAA Ground School training. As predicted, the entire class was constituted with students from diverse professional backgrounds such as medical, government, utility, airlines, education and investment banking. Through a brief self-introductory message, every student has expressed his/her own motive, goal and expectation of this class. Although this is only a preparatory course, students’ enthusiasm and seriousness were highly impressed by JetOne Academy’s FAA certified instructor and commented, "Of all the international classes that I've taught over the years, I'm quite impressed by this one simply because their command of English is very good. If you want me to rate them on International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) English Proficiency, they would get passed level 4, AT LEAST”. At present, Aviation English is not only important to student pilots as it is also a mandatory requirement for Airline Transport Pilots (ATPs) who wish to fly or presently flying international routes. ICAO has instigated new pilot communication regulations that all ATPs must pass a higher level verbal exam with a minimal level 4 status. Otherwise, they will be denied to land in non-domestic destinations. The new ICAO regulation will come into effect around March, 2011. While JetOne Academy’s enriching its new courses catering to meet the ICAO Aviation English requirements/exams, please visit our website periodically for new training program updates!
